Enjoy a challenging hike in Raiatea, up to the rocky plateau of Temehani located in the heart of the island.
Mount Temehani Rahi hike
One of the highlights of any visit to Raiatea!
The walk begins in the shade of the tall pine trees, abundant greenery, plants, and flowers. Arriving on the crest, it’s a wonderful panorama of the lagoon as well as the neighbouring islands: Taha’a island, Huahine on the East side, Bora Bora on the North-East and Maupiti, when weather is permitting. Make sure to spot the Tiare Apetahi, a delicate, white, five-petaled flower that is so rare it grows nowhere else on Earth but on this mountain. Your guide will not miss to tell you the legend surrounding this endemic flower. Finally after crossing several small clear water rivers, you’ll arrive to the top of the Temehani Mountain, overlooking the entire east coast of Raiatea.
